“I had been living here for about 12 years. The Laotian community in Idaho is small compared to places I've been. We had a meeting, and some people were trying to bring some monks over here to have a temple. I was involved and I didn't think much about it at first; but, after talking to a lot of people and attending quite a few meetings, I realized I could make a difference, I could help. So I decided to bring everybody together and say, 'Well, if you want to do it, we can't just keep meeting and meeting, and nothing comes to reality.' So we got everybody together, and this is what came about after a year or two. We established this temple here in 2006, and ever since we've been here. We've had two monks from Laos here recently, and we provide the services; anything that involves Buddhist religious ceremonies, happens here. So our community together is getting stronger, and some folks are moving here from out of state. We're getting bigger, but compared to other states, we are still very small, but much bigger than when I moved here.”
